As industry leader in the automotive industry for metal stamping and assembly, Kapco Tool & Die has a career opportunity for five (5) permanent, full-time Tool & Die Makers.  Our stamping processes utilize both progressive and tandem dies, specializing in deep draw, aluminum, ultra high strength steel (UHSS) and complex stamping dies.

Job Summary

• Read and interpret die designs, CAD data and sketches and any other information needed to produce metal stamping dies
• Verify materials for type, grade and dimensions to ensure workpiece material is correct for the application according to engineering drawings
• Direct the fabrication, fitting, spotting and assembly of dies and die sets
• Line up die components and assemblies to alignments and clearances required by engineering diagrams
• Set-up and operate press for try-out and spotting of die
• Analyze and problem solve any quality or functional defects in the die. Measure, modify, and re-test until the die passes final quality inspection
• Direct and organize the critical path of die build and trial to meet schedule constraints
• Analyze and rework tooling using circle grid analysis, CMM reports and blue spotting
• Assist in the training of apprentices
• Follow the die from start to finish, including customer buy-off

Job Requirements

• Trade certificate, diploma or equivalent experience
• 5 years experience as a toolmaker, in a tool & die environment
• Completion of tool & die apprenticeship is an asset
• Experience building progressive, transfer and robotic transfer dies for automotive metal stamping applications is an asset
• Experience with automotive sheet metal stamping, formability and design
• Excellent customer service skills
• Effective interpersonal skills and team mentality
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Good organizational skills
• Must be willing to travel

Compensation:

$28.75 hourly with incremental wage increases as per performance and company policy

Terms of Employment:

This is a permanent, full-time position (40hrs/week), plus anticipated overtime.  Shift work is required.
